After months of anticipation, it's finally here... it's the day I leave the country where I have lived and built a life for the last 17 years.
Ever since I made the career decision, I have been trying to tell myself that this move is just like all the other moves I have done in the past... I go to a new city, and I start over and blend myself into the fabric of the city. While I got through the transitions every time, it's always comforting to know know that my closest family and friends are just a short flight / drive / call away.
17 years is a lot of memories and people to leave behind. As much as I try to convince myself this move is no different, I have to acknowledge that I am leaving a lot of loved ones and not only will we be distanced by the vast Pacific, but also 15 hours of difference in time.
Nevertheless, I want to thank the people who made this 17-year period so interesting, so memorable and so much fun. You have contributed so much to the enrichment and betterment of my life. I hope you recognize that I wouldn't be the beautiful person I am today if it wasn't for you. For being who you are and for everything you have done for me, I thank you.
When I started this blog exactly 5 years ago, I always wonder about what will make me to end this blog. I think this move is a good way to put an end to it...so thank you for reading about my life here.
Lastly, I leave you this song, which is out of one of my favorite albums... Late Night Alumni. Enjoy.. and goodbye.
Today, I said goodbye to my ride for the last 7 years...
Over the years, people always tell me their horror stories or the horror stories they heard about Audi A4, but I am proud to testify that my baby is the best. She has been with me since 2001, and helped me move from Berkeley to Los Angeles, Los Angeles to San Diego, San Diego to Anaheim, and Anaheim to Santa Ana. We have gone up to the mountains when the temp was in the 10s and 20s... to the desert when the temp was up in the 120s and 110s... we have taken long trips where she was running for hours... and also been stuck in traffic for hours... but each time, she performed brilliantly and always managed to get me and my passengers to our destinations safely.
I wish I would have taken care of her a little better than I have... the bumps and bruises are evident and a friend of mine even redline her once (you know who you are)... but she never complained and just kept on going.
Most of us may take our means of transportation for granted, but not me. I am proud to say that I have been blessed to have her in my life for the last 7 years and it's a shame I can't take her to where I am going next. I think her next friend is going to take good care of her so she can continue to run around Southern California happily and beautifully.
about leaving in 3 days... and I feel like I am not ready at all! There are still so many things that need to be done...
and... this evening I was informed that I will be going to Shanghai next week when I get in. Tuesday morning after I land in Hong Kong, I basically go straight to my apartment, set my things down, freshen up, and head back out to the airport again.
Apparently Boss called for a company meeting on Wednesday in Shanghai and all of us are flying out Tuesday and coming back on Thursday. I guess my first couple of days at this new job will be spent in Shanghai, not Hong Kong.
Alright... this is the beginning of the end here for me here in the U.S.... my new venture in Asia is about to begin...
Today... I made another significant stride in becoming the next big DJ... I went out there and bought myself a copy of Ableton Live 7...
Live has probably become the industry's leading software in terms of letting DJ mix, live-edit, produce with relative ease. It has proven to be a powerful tool when it comes to perform complicated mixes, mashups and live-edits on the fly. Now I have this powerful software, sky is really the limit.
